Yukon Blonde : Fire/Water EP

Vancouver based Yukon Blonde recently dropped the Fire/Water EP on Dine Alone Records. Heavily harmonious vocals, dreamy pop guitar riffs and a breathless attitude certainly consume you from the opening note.

The hook-laden affair starts with the ooh-wahs of “Fire.” Amongst the four tracks creating the albums structure, this track and the closing “Choices” are the standouts. However the meat in the middle also has plenty of substance. “Water,” with all of its crunchy guitar and boomy reverb, falls into the pool with other great indie rock outfits like Band of Horses and Futurebirds.

The songs for the EP were culled from time on the road, and while woodshedding in a small cottage in the Comox Valley of British Columbia. Fifteen songs were recorded in total, with the remaining 11 not used here forming the full length due out early this year.

Fire/Water EP is out now on Dine Alone Records.
