Tony Rice : The Bill Monroe Collection

Culled from some choice Rice performances over the past 15 years, Tony Rice’s The Bill Monroe Collection constitutes an expression of the renowned singer and flat picker’s immense respect and passion for Bill Monroe, the man who is credited with creating the genre of bluegrass.

Tony’s take on a nicely varied selection of Monroe’s work includes sparkling versions of “I’m On My Way Back To The Old Home,” “Jerusalem Ridge” and “You’re Drifting Away,” as well as a sizzling “Muleskinner Blues,” and a classic “Molly And Tenbrooks.” While diehard Tony Rice fans have likely heard much of this material already, this release leaves the rest of us reflecting, toe-tapping and pining for a good old pick with Rice leading the way.

The Bill Monroe Collection is out now on Rounder Records.
