Food for Folk: The Folk Alliance holds food drives at conferences

Stacey Earle, the younger sister of country renegade Steve Earle and a gifted singer/songwriter in her own right has coordinated a food drive through The Folk Alliance.

This year the six conferences will work with local charities to raise funds, food, awareness, and a temporary solution to hunger for someone. Hard to imagine, yes? Hunger, true hunger exists in our communities. Food banks are reaching out for help and are in dire need. And The Folk Alliance is helping the best that we know how – folks taking care of folks.

Since 1989, International Folk Alliance has served as the headquarters for Folk Music and Dance. With members worldwide and an annual international conference that is one of the five largest music conferences in North America, the Folk Alliance has grown to include six regional affiliates that provide the grass roots efforts in their respective markets: NERFA, SERFA, SWRFA, FARM, FAR-WEST, FA Canada

At this year’s regional and international conference there will be collection barrels and donation boxes set in and around the conference and public events. There will be booths set up in the exhibit halls and representatives from local food banks providing information as to how you can help your own local food bank.

Attendees and fans are encouraged to bring an item such as canned goods, beans, vegetables, pasta, rice, cereals, baby formula, diapers, or make a cash donation.
