Drive-By Truckers ready greatest hits album

New West Records will release a Drive-By Truckers’ greatest hits album called Ugly Buildings, Whores, and Politicians on August 2, 2011.  This album will contain DBT’s greatest hits from the years 1998-2009.  It was produced and mixed by David Barbe, who has been with the Truckers since their beginnings.  The album be released both on CD and vinyl.

Throughout those 11 years, the Drive-By Truckers have had quite a successful musical career.  With hits from records such as 2001’s Southern Rock Opera, 2003’s Decoration Day, and 2004’s The Dirty South, Ugly Buildings, Whores, and Politicians showcases their finest moments. This greatest hits album covers DBT’s first 7 albums,

The current Truckers are Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley, drummer Brad Morgan, keyboard player Jay Gonzalez, pedal steel guitarist John Neff and bassist Shonna Tucker.  But, it all started with Hood and Cooley who were raised across the river from each other in the northwest corner of Alabama.  This greatest hits album leads fans on an abbreviated journey of what the band has accomplished in their first 11 years as the Drive-By Truckers. “Since the cut-off date here, the Drive-By Truckers have already made two of their best albums: 2010’s The Big To-Do and this year’s Go-Go Boots”, says David Fricke in the liner notes for Ugly Buildings, Whores, and Politicians.

The Drive-By Truckers were named Rolling Stone’s “Best Road Warriors” and still continue to prolifically tour and record. This summer and early fall, the Truckers will be touring nationally and will also play with music legends Bob Dylan and Leon Russell at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland.
