Death Cab For Cutie / Cold War Kids / Ra Ra Riot
April 11, 2009
In an indie rock triple bill, Death Cab For Cutie, Cold War Kids, and Ra Ra Riot put on a hell of a show at Memphis’ Orpheum Theatre.
While the crowd was slowly trickling in when Ra Ra Riot took the stage, they put on a hell of a show, their indie pop style a stark contrast with the brooding, moody rock of the Cold War Kids.
By the time Death Cab took the stage, the sold out crowd was clamoring with anticipation, and the band from the Pacific Northwest definitely didn’t disappoint. Delving into their whole repertoire, songs like "Grapevine Fires" and "Soul Meets Body" were as powerful live as they are on record, and when Ben Gibbard took the stage by himself for a magnificent acoustic "I Will Follow You Into The Dark," he had the whole crowd eating out of the palm of his hand.
