Gov’t Mule has come a long way from its inception, the power trio brain-child of Warren Haynes and Allen Woody. While the band has long been a four-piece, the band that arrived in Memphis was every bit as down and dirty as the original trio. Continue reading Birth of the Mule in Memphis

With threats of severe thunderstorms in the forecast, Lucero held strong to their rain or shine plans for their annual Family Block Party held on Saturday, April 22. While the rain did indeed pound Memphis in the morning, by mid-afternoon when the music started, the precipitation had died down to a not-bad-enough-not-to-go-but-just-enough-to-be-annoying level.

All good things come to an end, and the Avetts went out with a bang on the last night of At The Beach.
Jason Isbell opened the show and crushed it, and then the Avetts closed down the event with what was probably the best night of all three of their shows.

The Avett Brothers watched the music like the rest of the fans on night three of their At The Beach festival at the Hard Rock Hotel Maya Riviera. They had the night off, as Band of Horses played the role of headliner with Brandi Carlile as opener.
Full write-up to come, but here are a couple of pics from the night.
Night two is in the books for the Avett Brothers At the Beach, and what a night it was!

The headliners delivered a much more impassioned set than the night before. A full review will come post-fest, but highlights were a cover of “Mama Tried” and “Murder In the City” with Brandi Carlile sitting in.
