Aquarium Rescue Unit confirmed as part of Georgia Theatre re-opening schedule

Last week, we were pleased to announce the Georgia Theatre’s re-opening schedule. Check it out here) And though this had been rumored, today it is official… Aquarium Rescue Unit will play at the Georgia Theatre in Athens on 8/8/11. Tickets go on sale on 6/10/11 through the Georgia Theatre’s website. Just in case anybody needs a reminder of how incredible this announcement is, take a moment to read a short bio of ARU:

The Aquarium Rescue Unit’s ever-rotating lineup became a fixture on the early jam band scene, eventually spawning members of the Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh and Friends, Leftover Salmon, and Frogwings. The band’s fun fusion of bluegrass, rock, Latin, jazz, and impeccable chops became a template for much future work in the genre. Now The Aquarium Rescue Unit are back together, featuring: Col. Bruce Hampton (guitar, vocals), Jimmy Herring (guitar), Jeff Sipe aka Apt Q-258 (drums), Oteil Burbridge (bass), and Bobby Lee Rodgers (guitar, vocals).
